Plaza San Salvador, during Siesta. All the stores and businesses close between 2-5PM to allow everyone time to eat lunch and relax. I'm REALLY going to miss Siesta when I come home!
Everywhere you turn, there are orange trees! These oranges aren't good for eating though; too bitter for me. Even so, it is not an odd thing to see someone jumping to knock one down for a quick snack.
The football stadium of the Sevilla team. There are actually two teams from the city, Sevilla and Betis. They are VERY strong allegiances to these teams- Betis is the working class team and Sevilla is the team of the upper classes. My Senora is die-hard Betis.
The view of the city from on top of an apartment building. Almost everyone lives in apartment-style housing here. This is the view of my part of town, called Triana. To get anywhere in town we cross this bridge, Puente Isabel. On the Triana side of the bridge on the left is Calle Betis, a popular spot for residents of Triana. On the other side is a grassy area where my roommate and I can be found laying in the sun on our days off school.
This photo is taken from on top of Puente Isabel, looking towards the main part of town.
Government buildings in the Centro. I'm continually amazed at the architecture and historical significance of everything here.
The Cathedral, which is lit up every night. Its glow can be seen from anywhere in the city.
Walking to school in the early morning when the sun is coming up. The streets are very narrow and busy later in the day, so you always have to be on your guard!
I have class now, but I'll post more later!
Besos,
Kimberly
